I just wanted to give a huge thank you to Chad and Joy for your unexpected but welcome trail magic. Showing up on the trail with pizza and beer! Glorious pizza and beer! Plus cooked broccoli—I had that as a trail snack. It was obviously cold by then but still had the perfect al dente crunch. I know I told you that night that I never thought I would ever say this as a kid, but I miss vegetables. What a delight that was. Then leftover pizza for breakfast the next morning at camp. Delicious!
But even better than the pizza and beer was the conversation. We have so many common threads in our lives, like the Border Patrol, Lubbock and Texas Tech, Big Bend, the hot springs in Ouray, Telluride, Taos, Earthships, the hassle of nomad life without a permanent address. It was wonderful speaking with you both. I stayed longer than I should have because the conversation was so pleasant. I hope that I didn’t keep you out too long.
Again, thank you for the trail magic and thank you for the delightful conversation. It was pleasure spending time with you and getting to know you. I wish you the best in your journeys!
